The Good: Our society is one plagued by the beauty craze. Botox, Facelifts, you name it someone has tried it. Well cadaver research has shown where the true fountain of youth may lay, in cadavers. Well not really, but research with 14 cadavers has shown that the secret to youth lies in your cheeks. The researchers injected the cadavers with dye and latex and found that you loose volume in the fat deposits under your skin, causing you to get that hollow look of aging. The researchers say this is a extremely important new study because now doctors will know which fat deposits to target and by filling them, they can both plump up the area and reduce facial wrinkles. So now at least if you are going to get facial injections (which I think are unnecessary) you know where they should go.
The Bad: Today is National HIV Testing Day. This day comes with an announcement that research shows boys as young as 13 are contracting HIV. Boys aged 13 and up into their twenties, are becoming more likely to contract HIV if they are gay. The listed causes are sero sorting-having sex only with men who have the same HIV type as the boy-and not being around when the AIDS epidemic first emerged. What does this mean? Stay safe, sero sorting isn’t safe and can have huge repercussions, and get tested. The directory for HIV testing sites is here.
