Meme: a cultural unit (an idea or value or pattern of behavior) that is passed from one generation to another by non-genetic means (as by imitation); “memes are the cultural counterpart of genes” – Princeton.edu
Word Scrawl is a place where the word speaks, so why not let the words speak for our culture? This book meme was brought to my attention by Oh, what a world… and goes as follows:
- Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages)
- Open the book to page 123
- Find the fifth sentence
- Post the next three sentences
- Tag 5 people
The book is Catalyst by Laurie Halse Anderson, one of my favorite books. Page 123 is from the chapter 4.4 Activation Energy.
“So I’ll convince Dad that you should be allowed to help build your own house. The sooner it’s done, the sooner we can both go back to normal life.”
She smoothes the corner of the sticker back in place, “Suits me fine.”
Instead of tagging five people and making them respond, I encourage all of you to add your own three sentences. Happy finding.
