Well more studies are out, stating what seems obvious: college students are stressed. According to CNN, students are “agitated and anxious”, one in five students survived feel too stressed to associate with their friends, and a third of students who were diagnosed with a mental disorder are not following a treatment plan. Stress is building up among these students, turning some of them to drugs and alcohol and others to crime and suicide attempts. That is where Boys Town comes in.
Beginning as a small project by an Omaha minister in the early 1900’s, Boys Town is a self contained city that caters to troubled boys and girls. Since the creation of Boys Town, the organization has grown and spread its wings, reaching from sea to sea in the United States. With three locations in my home state of Florida, and many other living facilities in the United States, this ministry based group has made an impact in the lives of countless children.
It is in support of their good work that I promote a great service of Boys Town, their life-saving hotline. Similar to the 611 hotline here in Florida, the Boys Town hotline (1-800-448-3000) acts as a lifeline for teens and parents facing seemingly insurmountable problems. The Boys Town team of dedicated operators has worked to prevent thousands of teens from self-harm, and provides referrals for mental health and welfare services. So please join me in supporting this wonderful cause.
