It’s mule day this week everyone! Mule day, Columbia, Tennessee’s way of celebrating the rich heritage of mule farming, is a week-long celebration of everything mule. The Mule Day Website details the numerous activities that spread through the week all, of course, contained within their 56 page brochure. Despite the obvious inaccuracy in the title of the week-long event, it is one of the biggest events in the United States according to Homeland Security authorities.
On another note, Google is currently facing a lawsuit at the hands of a Pennsylvania couple. The couple, who live in a Pennsylvania suburb, say that purchased their house to have privacy. The couple holds that Google violated their privacy by capturing a photo of their house for use on Google Street View. The couple says that they spent a “considerable amount of money” on the house and being featured on Google has devalued their home.
Google says that this lawsuit is completely uncalled for. Any home owner can remove an image of their home from Google by simply contacting Google and proving their home ownership. This is a step the couple has not taken, stating they are more concerned about the principle of the matter than the actual image. To me, this seems like someone trying to take on the giant. Homes nationwide are losing value, and being featured on Google would seem to add to home popularity, rather than detract. Also (and maybe this is just the Floridian in me) the “considerable” sum the couple paid for the home was under $170,000. It is hard to find a town home in greater West Palm Beach for this type of money; this is not a million dollar home that needs to be kept in hiding. If they really wanted privacy they should have moved to a gated community. So Mr. and Mrs. Boring (Yes that is their real last name) please relax and drop this silly suit.
For those who want to see this house in the trees, feel free to search Google Street View. The house is located on Oakridge Lane, and is to the left of the Yellow Belt curve. Or, for those looking for an easy way, you can visit the Allegheny County Website and visit the Boring’s home information.
