The Good: As you know I have spoken about the children of the Yearning for Zion ranch a few times. Personally I thought that stripping the 460 children from their mothers was an idiotic move by Texas, but it was one that lasted about a month. That is the reason for today’s post; the Texas Supreme Court said that child protective services did not have the right to remove the children from their parents. This means that the hundreds of children who were taken can be returned. Charges will still be pressed against those men determined to have committed an actual crime, but the children will be free to return to their parents. Yay!
The Bad: In the United State the legal drinking age is 21, at least in all but one area. Fort Bliss, Texas was the one place in the United States where an 18 year old could legally drink, until now. After a recent rash of drunk driving on the base, the right to drink for all under 21 was suspended. While I understand their reasoning, I think it is a little harsh to let these kids (who are my age) die for their country yet they can’t drink a beer. I think Fort Bliss, and all other bases for that matter, should serve that wonderful Midwest watered down beer (less than 3.2% alcohol). It is much safer since it has less alcohol and it is one bit of pleasure you can give the troops. Just my opinion, what’s yours?

I completely agree with you with regards to the drinking. Binge drinking is a terrible problem here in the UK, but denying the troops a drink or two seems absurd to me!
You would have thought they would at least limit rather than take it away from them altogether!
