Transfer of Auto Power

Posted in United States by Amanda Roberts on Mar 29, 2008

American auto companies have been in danger for months. Rumors of bankruptcy and closing plants have been circling since the American economy first started its decline. Now is seems that one of the giants, Ford, is giving in.

Ford owns other brands beyond its own. Two of them, Jaguar and Land Rover, came at a hefty sum (5.2 billion dollars total). These heavy hitters proved to be too much for Ford to handle, and will soon be sold for 2.3 billion dollars to Indian car company Tata Motors Ltd. Tata Motors will add the two brands to their pre-existing line of cars and SUVs. The production facilities currently used by Jaguar and Land Rover in the UK will not be affected, and Tata will come back to Ford for parts a select amount of time. Ford will also pay approximately 600 billion dollars into the pension of Jaguar and Land Rover employees to help foster good relations in this time of transfer.
